The Church in Action During COVID-19

From raising additional benevolence funds, to creating new approaches for worship services, to fostering new ways for intentional connection, to proactively supporting local community, to practicing lament together... it's been beautiful seeing the church being the church in this unique season.

Here are a handful of examples of Orchard Group church plants "being the church" in their communities these past few weeks:

Reunion Church (Manhattan, NYC - 2020)

Community Church (Long Island - 2020)

CHURCH AT HOME - We’re reflecting on the goodness and grace of God! All around our city, our region, and our country the beauty of the Church continues. The Church is a collection people centered on Jesus. It doesn’t need walls, a stage, lights, haze or hype…we see the Church continuing to meet in homes, and online - where hope is shared and God is present with His children. - There’s a lot we don’t know, but we can hold confident that we are not alone - God is present and able. The Church is a “together people” who lift one another up in the midst of sickness & sorrow. In confusion & chaos we take courage and are moved with compassion. - Be hope-filled. Social Distancing does not mean isolation. You were made for relationship - so if you’re feeling alone -  reach out to someone. If someone comes to your mind (don’t ignore that nudge) - reach out to that person. Choose to be known and chose to take a step towards a friend, a neighbor, a co-worker, and even a stranger. - As a church, we’re working hard on unique ways we can encourage, equip, and empower one another. We’ll continue to be wise in the way we combat the spread of COVID-19 - yet bold in our love, grace, and dependance on the Lord. We’ll do what the Church has always done, we’ll find new ways to bring hope, we’ll rise to the occasion. We’ll serve and sing and live the way of Jesus. - #forSLO #HOPEFOREVERYONE

Our healthy habits continue! _ You can help to make a difference in the world by making 2 habits part of your life during the 21 day lockdown: _ 1. Give towards our relief fund. We have already been able to help 2 families that lost their income completely, as well as 2 other families that were significantly impacted by the lockdown. Your generosity can change a dark situation into one of hope. Our banking details can be found on www.prodeo.org.za/give - please use the reference “Covid-19 Relief”. _ 2. Practically help a neighbour in need: offer to go and buy groceries or pick up medicine for vulnerable people; do a video call with someone who feels lonely and isolated; take out a neighbour’s refuse bin. Remember in a crisis our natural tendency is to only think of ourselves. So, ask yourself: “how can I love my neighbours today?” _ #covid-19 #corona #neighbours #changetheworld #loveyourneighbour #caringforsomeoneinneed #lovemadevisible #prodeo #church
